It would appear that Jim Moeller, Democrat so-called Representative of Washington State’s 49th Legislative District still tries to hide in a self imposed closet. No, I don’t mean his homosexuality, he’s very open about that and in fact, wears it like a badge of honor on his left sleeve.
I’m talking about his disdain for constituents, especially any who do not immediately jump up to agree with his communist positions and even more so, his advocacy for Portland, Oregon over the district he has been reelected to represent 5 times now.
That my fellow 49ers remain so blind to Jim Moeller’s advocacy for Portland over the well-being of the 49th Legislative District is astonishing to me. What will it take for these people to ever open their eyes?
Moeller has shown himself to be a real enemy to the middle class families of Washington State by advocating higher taxes, higher fees and higher costs all to be piled on the backs of the struggling middle class families.
Fresh off being reelected to her first term and before retaking the oath of office, 3rd Congressional District Jaime Herrera Beutler once again reached across the aisle to join with 172 Democrats in the house and 84 other RINO’s to approve the hastily passed “compromise” alleged to avoid the “fiscal Cliff.”
Total count was 172 Democrats and 85 RINO’s voted AYE while 151 Republicans and 16 Democrats wisely votes NOE.
This “compromise” will undoubtedly drive us back into deeper recession by adding $4 Trillion to the deficit over the next 10 years, promises $1 in spending cuts for every $41 in tax increases and extends unemployment entitlements for another year, among other provisions.
The Heritage Foundation says of Boehner’s “counter-offer” to Barack Obama, “At first blush, it appears little more than categorical, pre-emptive capitulation.”
In this bloggers not so humble opinion, Boehner is a disgrace and either should resign of be removed from the position of Speaker of the House.
It’s high time we rid ourselves of the Vichy Republicans selling out conservatives under their false banner.
Do you ever find yourself sitting down, conflicted on sacrifices made in the past and wondering why any such sacrifices were made after seeing those sacrifices in essence thrown right back in your face? That is where I sit now, on the eve of Veterans Day 2012 and seeing how our recent elections turned out.
I think of all of the hardships we endured over the years defending this nation from Communist aggressors, standing up against them in foreign lands and more than once, engaging them on the battlefields of Korea and Vietnam. I recall the aid poured into other countries to assist them in their struggle against such oppressive foreign interference and how we stood our ground during the Cold War in Europe, President John F. Kennedy’s inaugural words ringing in my ears, “Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty.”
JFK must be turning in his grave as we now see the country being handed over to leaders who have shown that the very oppressive government we fought and stood up against for so long is what a majority of our citizens now desire, believing that offers of “free stuff” is better than actually working for yourself.
Since 2002, Democrat 49th Legislative District Representative Jim Moeller has successfully warded off challenges to his seat by some very capable Republicans, often winning by large margins exceeding 60%. Obviously, he is an effective campaigner, but 5 consecutive wins seems to have gone to his head as today we see him wearing his arrogance over those wins on his sleeve as proudly as he does his homosexuality.
He is well known for snarky comments left for constituents who disagree with him as much as he is his love of taxing the pants off of his constituents (no pun intended).
But his effectiveness in the Washington Legislature is questionable. Yes, he is very effective at pushing through special interest matters while ignoring the growing budget gaps every session, but a quick look shows that his district, the 49th is much worse off today than it has been for some time.
The 49th, wholly contained within Clark County struggles in its 4th year straight with double digit unemployment. When I contacted Mr. Moeller, along with several others back when Oregon passed their massive anti-business tax increase (measures 66 & 67) outlining we had a “golden opportunity” to attract those much needed jobs to Washington State, he responded,
It looks like Washington State Democrats and their chair, Dwight Pelz have broken ranks with 49th Legislative District incumbent representative, Jim Moeller and finally come out and endorse the only Democrat to challenge Republican, Jaime Herrera Beutler for her 3rd Congressional District seat.
If readers recall, it was Jim Moeller and his inflated ego who led the effort at the Democrats State Convention to deny Haugen the party endorsement, primarily due to his sensible stance on the Columbia River Project, covered at Why Was Jon Haugen ‘Sanctioned’ By the Democrats?
“Democrats didn’t say exactly what made them decide to now endorse Haugen, but Washington State Democrats’ Chairman Dwight Pelz on Monday called Haugen a ‘strong candidate.’ Pelz also said Democrats ‘will spend the next six weeks working (to) elect Democrats and ensure this election keeps our state moving forward’.”
Left out of the article is that it was Jim Moeller leading the charge to deny Haugen the endorsement, presumably due to Moeller being one of the Columbian’s sweethearts who does no wrong.
Unbelievable that the more Rob McKenna campaigns for Washington State Governor, the further left his positions are. It’s almost as if he is a secret plant for the campaign of Democrat Jay Inslee.
He has claimed to disagree with homosexual marriage. Then come out against the Boy Scouts of America banning homosexuals from their leadership ranks, ignoring the huge scandal of the early 1990′s where homosexual males had molested young boys over the years.
He fought to ensure homosexual activists received the names, addresses and signatures of everyone who signed the R-71 petition opposing the so called “everything but marriage” domestic partnership law.
Early on he distanced himself from very successful Republican governor of Wisconsin, Scott Walker and has stated that Washington State public unions have nothing to fear from him, adding that he feels collective bargaining is their right, even as we in the private sector continue to tighten our belts that they are reluctant to do.
The more we hear from him, the more he sounds like a liberal Democrat, not a conservative Republican.
It’s not like Clark County voters weren’t warned about JayRob McInslee (Rob McKenna) and his liberalism. And he sure didn’t waste any time expressing support for the very project conservatives in Clark County have been denied a vote, ignored and opposed from day one.
A late Wednesday, August 8, 2012 Columbin article, the unofficial daily newsletter for the CRC & Democrat Party praises McKenna for backing the CRC during a speech at a Rotary Club meeting in Vancouver.
McInslee said, “There has to be a new crossing. We can’t sit back and continue to consume what we have and not replace it. And it’s absolutely vital to our economy.”
Obviously he is clueless as to how many have tried to speak out and advocate additional bridges across the Columbia River.
If ever there was a scourge on American leadership, it is Massachusetts senior Senator, Democrat John ‘F’in Kerry, who served in Vietnam (briefly). The anti-American activities this poseur has engaged in over the decades is well known, outside of Massachusetts.
A “self-proclaimed” war hero serving barely 4 months in Vietnam, trumping up a chest full of medals under very questionable actions who stabbed Vietnam Veterans in the back with his lies before Congress in 1971, anti-war activities to propel a political career as well as traveling to Paris to meet with Communist North Vietnamese agents only to return and advocate their position over America’s.
If not for the brave and courageous stand taking by a group of highly decorated Vietnam Veterans and former POWs, the country might have been fooled into electing this liar as president in 2004. His activities contrary to America’s best interests have been well-documented, leaving many to ponder just how it is he remains a United States Senator and not a prisoner in Leavenworth.
Kerry, ever the consummate political opportunist to further his own interests above that of our countrymen is at it again.
As we read of the so-called Super Committee set to fail, as we all knew it would, hundreds of Tea Party activists have identified $9.7 Trillion in budget cuts that could balance the budget, shrink government and set us on the road to fiscal responsibility.
They can expect to be ignored as Super Committee failure is what was expected to happen as Obama and Democrats received the $ Trillions of dollars for debt limit increases they desired this summer.
We all knew it was a sham and now we are seeing proof once again that Washington D.C. politicians are sticking it to taxpayers instead of doing what is needed to turn our stumbling economy around.
With all of her claims of once being a “Senior Legislative Aid” to congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers, how could she have not known what negotiating was like in Washington D.C.?
Voting to raise the debt limit by the largest amount in history is not courageous, it’s caving.
I can’t say I’m surprised to one, see Jaime Herrera Beutler (R Wa 03) support the largest debt increase in the history of the nation, two express frustration over the deal she voted for and three, justify selling out constituents.
No one else should be surprised either. This is a pattern seen during her brief tenure occupying a seat as 18th legislative district representative. After all, she didn’t bat an eyelid when she crossed the aisle to help Democrats strip the last $229 Million of the states Rainy Day Fund last year.
She justified that boner as to prevent a tax increase too, just as she did in voting for this sell-out debt limit increase.
She didn’t even bother to check out a bill she co-sponsored and twice voted for that would have forced childcare centers into the unions. That one she justified by claiming it would do such thing and having her then campaign manager, Casey Bowman issue a press release stating that I and any others exposing her record were “spreading false information.”
Democrat Representative for the Third District of Washington State Brian Baird, voted for the massive 8 inch thick “Stimulus Plan” proposed by Barack Obama today. This pig in a poke legislation was just made available to Baird today and consists of over 1100 pages. There is no way possible that Baird can know just what is contained in it, yet he readily voted for it and then posts his video justification for that vote.
That is blind following and amounts to selling out America’s future in a hope that this bill, ignoring the hidden measures in it, may provide some help for our struggling economy.
Even Far Left media McClatchy see that this measure is “short on incentives to get consumers spending again and long on social goals that won’t stimulate economic activity.”
Baird even says,
“We are borrowing this money from our children, and we need to make sure they get something for their investment,” adding, “it’s important to remember that this bill is not a magic wand. Even if this legislation is successful, our economy will remain in a very fragile state.”
“Even IF this legislation is successful?”
As pointed out by Republican Minority Leader, John Boehner, NO ONE HAS READ THE BILL! And yet, Democrats couldn’t wait to line up to vote for it, Baird amongst them.
The hidden measures contained within this bill Baird is proud of supporting could lead not only to a bankrupt nation, but a Socialist nation as well, stripping us of our beloved liberties “for the good of all,” as was often claimed when the Soviet Union was in its infancy.
Brian, you showed intestinal fortitude before by changing your position and supporting our Troops and their mission in Iraq and Afghanistan. You even once told a group of my friends in D.C. in March 2007 at the Gathering of Eagles event, “I can always get another job, I cannot get another country.”
What happened, Brian? Did all the guff you received from liberals for supporting a worthy cause get to you? You faced no real opposition in the last election from Michael Delavar and easily won your seat again.
Yet, you now sell us out over this massive bill without even knowing what is in it? Just hoping it helps?
Perhaps if you all had acted in a bi-partisan position as claimed by both Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama, this bill could be truly trimmed of the pork that bankrupts the nation and the country could support it. But, in business as usual, you Democrats spared no effort denying any input from across the aisle and let us all know readily, “we won!”
Isn’t that really childish?
You will be up for re-election again, Brian and rest assured, we will remember how you sold out America and those of us in Washington’s third District. For those that may forget, many of us will be to remind them.
You were very happy when I told you that I supported you last Memorial Day down at Fort Vancouver. I regret ever saying that to you and rest assured, you no longer have that support.
