Hitler gets wind of Don Benton being hired to head the Dept of the environment and realizes all of blustering and scheming with certain people won’t change a thing
There is little doubt that the Lazy C, legally known as the Columbian, the unofficial daily newsletter for the Democrat Party is one of the poorest excuses for a newspaper seen. Their bias reeks as does their contradictions in articles often published.
It’s not unheard of to see one article one day boasting of home values increasing followed the next day by foreclosures increasing. With Democrats largely in control over the past few years, the Lazy C spared little ink to try to convince readers how well off they were, even though they obviously weren’t.
Now we see them setting a new record in bashing of a Republican with some 24 articles in a week blasting State Sen. Don Benton (R 17) along with Clark County Commissioners Tom Mielke and David Madore, both elected by wide margins just this past November.
Even though the Lazy C admitted their act was legal and within the confines of a Commissioner’s duty, the two hiring 5 term Sen. Benton to also head up the County’s Environmental Department as set the Lazy C on a rampage as they have spent the last week whipping some people into a lynch mob frenzy over the hiring.
As we see more and more Washington citizens and businesses joining in opposing the Columbia River Crossing light rail project, the desperation seen from Oregon in wanting to tap into our tax dollars to bail out their folly of light rail increases.
From Governor Kitzhaber’s proclamations published in the CRC mouthpiece Kitzhaber: Without light rail, new span across Columbia is history and Kitzhaber: Removal of light rail will kill CRC project to now an editorial in the April 25 Oregonian, Hey, Olympia: Suck it up and help build the CRC demanding we just ‘get onboard’ and do as they say.
Kitzhaber’s call showed that the calls of “decrease congestion,” “unsafe bridge” and “improve freight mobility” have been nothing more than lies and reaffirmed what this blog and several others have been saying for several years, light rail is the only factor driving this project.
The deadline for bill cut-off passed yesterday in Olympia, Washington meaning, if the bill did not pass out of committee, it’s dead. Seeing some of the bills that did make it out of committee, while others were allowed to, or made to die is very disconcerting. It’s as if common sense has no place in our state legislature.
Probably the most needed bill, Liz Pike’s HB 1788 that would have permitted local school districts to decide on their own if qualified, licensed and properly trained teachers would be permitted to arm themselves to defend students should a shooter access the school, bypassing several layers of security and violating every existing gun law, as happens in every school shooting, was allowed to languish, dying in committee as chairs did not even wish to discuss it.
Troubling in this is that the chair of the House Judiciary Committee, Seattle Democrat Rep. Jamie Pedersen, stated that he “was not receptive to the bill.” What is troubling, if not downright hypocritical, Pederson has the right to carry a firearm inside the Capitol, concealed on his body during session as there is no effort to end the legislator’s right to defend themselves on the floor of the legislature.
The United States Coast Guard has a long history of protecting our coastal waterways and shorelines. They state on their website,
“For over two centuries the U.S. Coast Guard has safeguarded our Nation’s maritime interests in the heartland, in the ports, at sea, and around the globe. We protect the maritime economy and the environment, we defend our maritime borders, and we save those in peril. This history has forged our character and purpose as America’s Maritime Guardian — Always Ready for all hazards and all threats.”
Serving in the U.S. Coast Guard has often been shown honorable, yet hazardous in many of their missions.
Most Americans hold the Coast Guard, along with the rest of our brave younger people in other branches of the Military in highest regard, recognizing the sacrifices made on all of our behalf and appreciating their performance in the duties.
Apparently not in that group of appreciative people is members of the San Francisco Labor Council who has issued a condemnation of the announcement that Coast Guard vessels will escort the first ship due to dock at the EGT Grain Terminal at the Port of Longview, still embroiled in a labor dispute with ILWU local 21 in Longview, Washington.
Governor Gregoire of Washington State has called the state legislature into Special Session, beginning Monday, November 28, 2011 to deal with the states ongoing budget gap and promoting her call for a “temporary” sales tax increase statewide. If you believe any sales tax increase will be temporary, I’d like to sell you a nice bridge I just happen have.
I covered the reason the “deep, obscene” cuts in the budget had no effect in the post Sorry People, But You Have No “Right” To Other People’s Money! where it was brought out how unions and special interest groups file lawsuits against those budget cuts, often being overturned by activist judges.
As House Ways and Means Chairman Ross Hunter, Democrat from Medina put it, “What we’re doing in the budget now is like full employment for lawyers,” addressing the numbers of lawsuits to counter any effort to reduce spending in the state.
Gregoire now says, “It’s a new day for me. I have seen the ramifications of the cuts. I can’t live with it” in an article from the Columbian Saturday. Maybe she will tell us which cuts actually stood and didn’t get overturned by activist judges.
So, the main thrust in our still Democrat controlled legislature is raising taxes, even though some appear hesitant at this time. Rep. Jim ‘Da Taxman’ Moeller, D-Vancouver, seems to still be chomping at the bit to “plug tax loopholes for the wealthy.”
The non-leader facilitator of Occupy Portland, Adriane Ackerman read a prepared statement this morning in Portland, decrying what she called “deplorable police action” as Sam Adams finally found a little spine and cleared the illegal squatters out of Chapman and Lownsdale squares in Portland.
Ackerman, who was also seen Saturday evening directing matters leading up to the 12:01 AM “suggested deadline” for the illegal squatters to leave the parks, is demanding an apology from Adams for what she called “militarized police action that led to violence against peaceful protester.”
Video of the “news conference” is at KPTV 12
A poll on KPTV asking if Adams should apologize is running 94% NO, 6% yes.
A similar poll here on KGW’s article is running 92% NO, 8% yes.
Ackerman claims to be cutting off communication with the city until such time Adams issues a formal apology for upholding Portland’s law.
Adams has expressed support for the illegal squatters so the question is, will he continue to ignore the rights and needs of 99% of Portland residents to facilitate illegal squatters? Or will he stand firm and act like a mayor should against illegal squatters who know threaten in invade banks around the nation this coming Thursday?
UPDATE: Most outrageous to now see the city of Portland requesting donations from citizens to restore the two parks that idiot mayor Sam Adams gave illegal squatters permission to destroy. http://www.portlandparksfoundation.org/historic-squares
As the malcontents of Occupy Wall Street spread their jealous rage across the country, it’s a downright shame that in order to see what is really happening we must turn to the foreign press. The image below was published in the UK Daily Mail, October 8, 2011 along with a host of other images showing the filth and garbage piling up.
Where have we seen this sort of disgusting act before? Oh yes, Portland, Oregon March 2007
No, this isn’t indicative of all of those participating in this misguided protest, but I don’t hear protest organizers complaining about it or telling followers not to engage in such disgust.
And these people complain about the Tea Party?
Political Correctness has attained a new low (height to some) that has Gay Activists applauding the State Departments decision to revamp Passport Applications with the deletion of the designation “mother” and “father” under parents and to soon be designated as “parent one” and “parent two.”
A Fox News article states the State Department website noted: “These improvements are being made to provide a “gender neutral” description of a child’s parents and in recognition of different types of families.”
Brenda Sprague, deputy assistant Secretary of State for Passport Services said, “We find that with changes in medical science and reproductive technology that we are confronting situations now that we would not have anticipated 10 or 15 years ago.”
