If there is one thing the left knows well, it is how easily conservatives are distracted to focus their attention where led to, often by the left or their willing accomplices in the lamestream media.
A prime example of this would be the impeachment proceedings of former President William Jefferson Clinton over his lying to Congress about sexual relations he was accused of having with a young White House intern, Monica Lewinsky.
The country became fixated on that scandal and the Republicans fell for it hook, line and sinker.
If you think back, Ken Starr was getting close to the Clinton’s in his investigation of the many scandalous acts of the Clinton’s when suddenly, news broke of he was receiving oral sex from a young intern and a dress had his semen on it. The country’s attention became fixated on that allegations while Republicans in the House launched impeachment proceedings over his lie of “Now, I have to go back to work on my State of the Union speech. And I worked on it until pretty late last night. But I want to say one thing to the American people. I want you to listen to me. I’m going to say this again: I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky. I never told anybody to lie, not a single time; never. These allegations are false. And I need to go back to work for the American people. Thank you!”
Once again Americans were taken by surprise as bombs exploded at the finish of the Boston Marathon, killing 3 and injuring hundreds, to include catastrophic amputations of several.
As we have gotten all too accustomed to today, speculation immediately focused on unknown conservatives, creating false links to “right-wingers” and “Tea Party” to smear conservatives in America as leftwingers continues their assault on traditional minded Americans.
Late Thursday and early Friday morning the smoke began to clear as we heard of a raging gun battle occurring in Massachusetts where two individuals seen walking through the crowd at the marathon were acting suspiciously and appeared to leave backpacks in the vicinity of the explosions were located.
One was killed in that gun battle and the younger brother is the effort of an intense city wide manhunt as I write this.
Both the State of Oregon and Washington have been experiencing budget gaps exceeding $1 Billion for the last few years. While we have remained mired in this ongoing “Great Recession,” both states continue to struggle with issues of decreasing revenues while also moving ahead on wasteful spending projects, addressing Public Union contracts and a growingly frustrated private sector depending on entitlements to survive, unable to find viable employment.
At such severe economic times as we have seen since 2008, one would think growing private sector jobs to rebuild lost revenues would be a paramount duty. But not so with both states under heavy control of the Democrat Party.
Oh, they pay a lot of lip service on job creation, usually mentioning “Green Energy” jobs that rely on revenues to remain in business or be created. But when push comes to shove and massive job growth stares them in the face, they turn away.
Once again we find ourselves preparing to have our ears tickled by Barack Obama as he speaks before both houses of congress and the nation to give the annual ‘State of the Union’ speech where he undoubtedly will speak of how well the country is doing under his tutelage and how well off citizens are, whether we actually are or not.
He is expected to cover “his plans to create jobs, tackle gun violence, and pass comprehensive immigration reform” as Nancy Pelosi, unarguably one of the worst Speakers of the House in our history, famously known for stating “we have to pass the bill so you can find out what is in it” regarding Obama’s signature ‘Obamacare’ legislation, a direct contradiction of Obama’s campaign promise of a transparent government.
She also makes mention in this same email seeking support for Obama of this “ambitious agenda.”

Few people reaching the age to enlist in today’s Military will remember the TV Show, Combat. It aired from 1962 to 1967 and hasn’t seen a wide syndication. But reading some comments from a few women and supporters of opening combat positions to women tells me they have unrealistic views of just what combat is, almost as unrealistic as it is portrayed in TV Shows, Movies and Video Games.
In announcing the end of the ban on women serving in combat roles, Leon Panetta said “everyone is entitled to a chance to become a combat soldier in a military that will now adopt gender neutral standards.”
One big problem for Mr. Panetta and those who feel they have something to prove, there is no such thing as “gender neutrality.” We are born male or female with distinct differences. One being upper torso strength, on average females having much less. And yes, I acknowledge that some females might have sufficient upper torso strength to equal the average male and even some men do not.
But our Military isn’t geared to individuals, it is geared to teams, units that are no stronger than their weakest link.
But what I find disturbing is quotes from former Military members who are female that were interviewed by the media bout the ending of the ban.
The Constitution of the United States of America is one of the most remarkable documents ever written. It clearly and in plain language lays out the foundation of our nation, the makeup of our government and establishes the rights of our citizens along with the limitations of government.
It has served our nation well in our short history and guided us into becoming the super power we have been known as, along with being the freest nation on the planet a long as we have abided by it and followed the basic tenets of it.
But government wishes to grow and assume powers our country was founded to get away from, putting the limits on citizens and granting more powers to government denied it when we adhere to our Constitution.

Over the years we have all heard the above quote or a disambiguation of it, usually from the anti-war crowd, twisting it to mean if we submit to any measure for security, we are not deserving of liberty.
What they and many others did not do, though, was to research the quote and its context. Had any done just a little research they would have discovered Ben Franklin was addressing those who would not accept one of the guns he purchased to help protect what was then the frontier from marauders and murderers.
Sadly we are once again facing the claim of if we just give up a little bit of our liberty, that being our rights under the second amendment to bear arms freely, we can be safer and our children less likely to be slaughtered in schools or even on the streets in drive-by gang shootings.
It is now being reported that Barack Obama will surround himself with children when he announces his proposals to curb gun violence. While the proposals are expected to be controversial, using children as props seems to be a common theme with certain leaders of the past.
Just hours from now we will be bidding adieu to 2012 and welcoming in 2013 with uncertain prospects in our future.
2012 saw several disappointments for conservatives as the march towards socialism in America increases, embraced by those who fall for whatever canard they are spoon-fed by the leftist pundits in the lamestream media.
Almost unbelievable was seeing Barack Obama, after four dismal years at the helm of the country, easily swept back into office in November. That all indicators point to us being much worse off than when he and his party seized the country, he easily won reelection against Mitt Romney amid more empty promises of how much better he will make the country, even though are more divided today than we have been in several decades.
The Heritage Foundation says of Boehner’s “counter-offer” to Barack Obama, “At first blush, it appears little more than categorical, pre-emptive capitulation.”
In this bloggers not so humble opinion, Boehner is a disgrace and either should resign of be removed from the position of Speaker of the House.
It’s high time we rid ourselves of the Vichy Republicans selling out conservatives under their false banner.

A simple statement made to the San Francisco Chronicle when first campaigning for president, Barack Obama openly announced his “War on Coal” and with the help of environmentalists, leftists, a willing media and the usual slate of ‘joiners,’ a statement that has been seen all too true as electricity rates have gone up over the last 4 years.
But far from just raising the cost of lighting and heating our homes, Obama’s War on Coal deprives America of good paying jobs while we remain in an elongated period of high unemployment and decreasing revenues collected by our treasury.
On January 17, 1961 outgoing President Dwight D. Eisenhower was televised giving one of his most famous and well known speeches. The 15 minute Farewell to the Nation is largely regarded today as the “Military Industrial Complex” speech due to one lone sentence warning us of an out of control industrial complex fueling our Military while the rest of the speech has been mostly discarded.
But within that speech President Eisenhower warned us of a far greater danger that we as a nation have ignored, having fallen prey to the claims of what he then labeled a “Scientific Technological Elite” and how public policy could easily become captive to that.

There is no bigger Duck fan in the world than me. I used to live in Cottage Grove you know. I even attended some night classes in Government Bureaucracy at the O. This game was for the PAC 12 and the National Championship. I’m kicking myself for missing the drama – even if my Ducks lost.
The only reason I went to bed was because I had a big day ahead with a job interview and I wanted to look chipper and well rested in the morning.

In 1908 a Jewish immigrant from England named Israel Zangwill penned a play titled “The Melting Pot.” The play itself has long been forgotten, but the message it instilled is heard to this day. It portrayed that all immigrants could be transformed into Americans, blending cultures and together achieving a Republic and building of a nation like no other before in man’s history.
A portion of our citizens were denied access to the Melting Pot dream for over half of the twentieth century, but as happens in a growing nation, the correction came and they were also able to take part in the dream of being an American fully.
Seeing that some of our citizens were denied access to the Melting Pot, other citizens deemed the Melting Pot dead or a myth and started pushing for what we now see as “multiculturalism.” Lost in this push is the unique Americanism that built the nation and elevated it to the greatness she held for a short time.
It never ceases to amaze me how easily the American public is distracted, especially when it comes to government scandal and cover-ups. Just throw out some juicy sexual innuendo or accusation against some high level person and extremely important failings of an administration just start fading away.
We saw it well back during the Clinton Administration as investigators drew closer and closer to several scandals potentially involving the president, all attention was diverted to his sexual liaison with a much younger staffer, Monica Lewinsky. Clinton lied about it, Republicans jumped on it and passed Articles of Impeachment, the Senate refused to convene a trial and Clinton finished his term, becoming the darling of the Democrats and an honored former President in a very wealthy retirement.
