Representative Jim Moeller (D. Portland/Vancouver) sent out his usual spin the truth email this evening titled House Passes Budget – Senate Does Not Act laying all blame for a budget agreement not being reached on Republicans, as usual.
In the email, Moeller claims,
“Majority elected House Democrats have advanced substantial steps toward middle, compromise ground in striving for agreement with Senate Republicans.”
“I stand for our House budget that puts children-in-need before tax breaks, that maintains strong funding for our schools, and that preserves a stable foundation supporting basic human services while addressing our immediate needs.”
Ah yes, the usual “it’s for the children” again.
What Moeller leaves out is the steps the Senate Coalition Majority has taken to actually have another responsible budget and not just the regular burdening of the middle class with more tax hikes they can ill afford.
As I suspected last year during the campaign for the 2012 election, Annette Cleveland has shown herself to be nothing more than another Jim Moeller tool blindly advocating for the Columbia River Crossing light rail project.
Cleveland, a Democrat from Washington’s 49th legislative district, the same district as Moeller was easily elected, even though she had no political experience that even the Lazy C admitted her opponent, Republican Eileen Qutub had the qualifications as they endorsed Cleveland.
But elected she was and as suspected, walks lock-step with the Democrat Party and Jim Moeller.
I say this as just this afternoon I received her June 3, 2013 e-newsletter where much of it is devoted to fearmongering over the collapse of the Skagit River Bridge after having 10 structural support beams damaged by an over-sized load on a semi-truck.
As difficult as it may be, I have always strived to keep personal feelings separated from political views with candidates as well as elected officials. By that, I mean even if I vehemently disagree with political views they hold, I did not make it personal.
But there are some that make it all but impossible when they denigrate a veteran.
Jim Moeller (D. Portland/Vancouver) is stretching my ability to keep personal and political views to the breaking limit. His arrogance is reaching legendary proportions now that he successfully sued constituents to invalidate their votes on a citizen initiative and refuses to abide by the expressed will of voters who have approved the same measure 5 times.
His snarky comments to those who disagree with his views is equally well know, once publicly expressing to a female candidate he defeated, “I beat you like an old rug.” But, he’s even gone beyond that now as he disparages a veteran for participating in our local Memorial Day Ceremony, Monday May 27, 2013.
Jim Moeller, 6 times elected Representative for Washington State 49th Legislative District can be accurately labeled many things. An open homosexual, bombastic, arrogant, sly, slick, effective (for a liberal), agenda driven and more. But the one thing I have never seen in Jim is cowardice, until now.
He does operating in the Legislature with a “my way or the highway” attitude and up until this latest session, pretty much got his way with fellow Democrats controlling both houses of the legislature and a Democrat in the Governor’s mansion.
Jim has never been known to shy away from confrontation, other than to ignore it when it suits him and he will just go about his business. So I was taken aback some when I discovered over a week ago that he placed a block on me for his facebook page, especially considering we had not ‘friended’ each other.
Not on either’s friends list, neither of us leaves a comment on the others page, so I was perplexed why he would block out a constituent, since I reside in the 49th Legislative District and have for over 25 years.
More and more it appears as if proponents are following Washington Governor Jay Inslee’s admonition of “increase the decibels” in a late effort to finally ram the Columbia River Crossing light rail project off onto Clark County citizens, even though every indication shows they strongly oppose it.
Of course, “increase the decibels” we know to mean shout down opponents, marginalize them, ignore them and just blindly push ahead, shortcomings be damned.
Editor of the Columbian mouthpiece, Lou Brancaccio says, “There have been so many missteps on this Columbia River Crossing project that if it was entered on ‘Dancing With The Stars,’ it would be voted off before Mike Tyson. It’s just mess after mess. The tomfoolery is epic. Even its most ardent supporters would agree with this. For me, I hold my nose and close my eyes, and say we should move forward.”
49th Legislative District Representative Sharon Wylie says, “We can always wish for a better process, however, we wound up with a process of our own making, based on the quantity and quality of our participation. The process may not have been perfect, but it was open and it was fair.”
It would appear that Jim Moeller, Democrat so-called Representative of Washington State’s 49th Legislative District still tries to hide in a self imposed closet. No, I don’t mean his homosexuality, he’s very open about that and in fact, wears it like a badge of honor on his left sleeve.
I’m talking about his disdain for constituents, especially any who do not immediately jump up to agree with his communist positions and even more so, his advocacy for Portland, Oregon over the district he has been reelected to represent 5 times now.
That my fellow 49ers remain so blind to Jim Moeller’s advocacy for Portland over the well-being of the 49th Legislative District is astonishing to me. What will it take for these people to ever open their eyes?
Moeller has shown himself to be a real enemy to the middle class families of Washington State by advocating higher taxes, higher fees and higher costs all to be piled on the backs of the struggling middle class families.
Fresh off of his Friday March 22, 2013 closed door meeting with select supporters of the Columbia River Crossing project, the massive light rail extension project from Portland, Oregon that will leave Clark County’s struggling middle class taxpayer’s paying for decades on a project they voted down, Washington State’s newly elected Governor Jay Inslee released his awaited budget proposal today, March 28, 2013.
Apparently not content that the cost of the CRC is expected to hit as high as $10 Billion, once interest on bonds and cost over runs are factored in, Inslee’s budget proposal includes several tax increases, extensions and converting temporary tax increases into permanent tax increases, just about all of which will end up on the backs of the very middle class taxpayer Democrats continue to claim they support.
It was just prior to his inauguration in January 2013 that Inslee was citing no tax increases would be needed for him to handle the projected budget shortfall that is now exceeding $1.2 Billion, again.
Very craftily, he left open the idea of eliminating some tax breaks.
It is becoming common knowledge that the Columbia River Crossing Project is falling apart as more and more, people open their eyes to the lack of transparency long associated with it and the many false claims used in promoting it.
From poorly designed plans to calls for tolls on top of tolls, increasing gas taxes and license fees on cars to come up with funding for it, people are waking up and standing up against it.
Tired of being silenced, marginalized and just outright ignored, those of us who will long be on the hook to pay for a light rail carrier we have rejected have been pushing back, defeating funding measures associated with CRC and electing officials who are willing to scrutinize the project.
None of that has fazed one of the strongest proponents of the CRC, 49th Legislative District Representative, Democrat Jim Moeller, quite possible the single most arrogant person elected to our state legislature.
We’re all familiar with the term, Kangaroo Court meaning “a mock court in which the principles of law and justice are disregarded or perverted.” Maybe it is time we also applied it to townhalls by elected officials who have no intent to listen to constituents and instead seem to think they have to sell us on a defective project the majority of their constituents’ have indicated they do not want.
A Townhall is supposed to be an “informal public meeting where everybody in a town community is invited to attend, voice their opinions, and hear the responses from public figures and elected officials about shared subjects of interest.”
But as we continue to see, many of those elected officials appear reluctant to listen to constituents areas of concern in Washington State 49th Legislative District, especially where the overly ambitious Columbia River Crossing Project is concerned.
The middle class in Washington State was struck a cruel blow yesterday when the State Supreme Court ruled against citizens and sided with Democrats and Education Union Groups in finding unconstitutional citizen initiatives requiring the state legislature to reach a 2/3 supermajority vote in order to raise our taxes.
Most telling is just who the plaintiffs in the lawsuit, filed shortly after voters for the 4th time approved the requirement of a 2/3 supermajority in I-1053 in 2010.
In addition to the League of Education Voters and the Washington Education Association we also see Representative Laurie Jinkins (D. 27th); Representative Jamie Pedersen (D. 43rd); Representative Deb Eddy (D. 48th); Representative Sam Hunt (D. 22nd); Representative Jim Moeller (D. 49th); Representative Timm Ormsby (D. 3rd); Representative Eric Pettigrew (D. 37th); Representative Chris Reykdal (D. 22nd); Representative Cindy Ryu (D. 32nd); Representative Mike Sells (D. 38th) and State Senator David Frockt (46th) listed as plaintiffs against middle class citizens of Washington State.
Jim Moeller was quoted in the pages of the Columbian saying, “The constitutional legality of the supermajority has gone unresolved for many years, and I’m really pleased that the court has finally settled the issue.”
Sure to please Jim Moeller, he has successfully invalidated voters votes
Undoubtedly 49th Legislative District Representative Jim ‘da taxman’ Moeller is dancing on the floor of the house this morning at this stunning slap down of voters in Washington State that have voted 5 times to require a 2/3 majority vote in order for the legislature to increase taxes.
In the halls of our state legislature, I cannot imagine a more arrogant person elected than 49th Legislative District Representative, Jim Moeller. Where he is lacking in facts to support his positions, he more than makes up for it with his massive arrogance, ignoring real facts as he does whatever he can to raise taxes and confiscate money from the very people he claims he is working to help.
From his positions supporting public unions over private sector workers to backing private sector unions over non-union employees, Jim never lets facts or reality get in the way of his drive to create a socialist union over a free state of Washington.
Case in point is his blind support of the Columbia River Crossing and forcing Clark County residents to accept the light rail from Portland, Oregon we have repeatedly declined and said we do not want, even if the federal government paid for it.
Washington State 49th Legislative District is probably one of the most liberal districts in the state if not the most liberal. A conservative Republican candidate doesn’t stand a chance of being elected in the 49th as all that seems to matter is that ‘D’ behind a candidate’s name, evidenced by the reelection of Jim Moeller 5 times, even though he openly holds constituents in deep disdain, passing ridiculous taxes that get overturned by citizen initiative and even suing constituents to invalidate their votes when he disagrees with them.
Moeller seems to think his reelection and the election of Sharon Wylie, married to Vancouver City Attorney Ted Gathe, even the election of inexperienced Annette Cleveland to the State Senate over Eileen Qutub in 2012, an experienced former legislator from Oregon (just like Wylie) grants them some sort of carte blanche to just do as they please, very proud of the fact that his party has held a lock on state government for over a decade.
But let’s face it, you find the dead, rotting carcass of a road kill raccoon and run it in the 49th as a Democrat and it would get elected by at least 60%, voters not looking at anything but party affiliation.
49th Legislative District Representative, Democrat Sharon Wylie has joined with 13 other Democrats in sponsoring a bill they claim is for “Promoting firearm safety through an education program funded through fees on firearms and ammunition and creating a sales tax exemption on gun locks.”
The bill, House Bill 1703 calls for implementing taxes and fees on sales of guns and ammunition within the state citing the need to fund an “education program” designed to reduce gun deaths in Washington State.
To do this, every gun sold will have a $25 fee attached per sale and ammunition would be charged a one cent tax per round.
Bombastic, Arrogant, Narcissist, Megalomaniac, all adjectives that have been used and well fit 49th Legislative District Representative Jim Moeller, the Democratic easily reelected to a 5th term in what may be one of the most liberal districts in the state and definitely in Clark County. Moeller is well known as a ‘tax & spender’ always seeking ways to increase taxes and throwing money around, our money, not his own, as if a clown in parade.
From his ‘candy tax’ that was quickly nullified by voter initiative to his joining a lawsuit to invalidate voters votes on another citizen initiative calling on the legislature to require a 2/3 majority vote to increase taxes, Jim Moeller sits in his legislative office ignoring those he is elected to represent unless they are in agreement with his special interest agenda’s.
Once again we see the Columbian living up to their reputation of being the daily newsletter for the Democrat Party, hard pressed to give credit to Republicans for their work and crediting it to the newest, least experienced State Senator recently elected in the 49th Legislative District, Annette Cleveland, who’s main experience seems to be her boasting of coming from an ILWU family.
“Senate Bill 5325, which seeks to add Clark County to a list of “rural” counties that receive .09 percent of their sales taxes back each year, has received support from both Democrats and Republicans from Southwest Washington. House Bill 1553 is the companion bill.”
“Sen. Annette Cleveland, D-Vancouver, sponsored the Senate bill with three Republicans.”
How many years have we been telling especially Moeller what is important to us and being ignored?
How many times have said the 2/3 supermajority for tax increases is important to us only to have Moeller join in a lawsuit against us to invalidate our votes on it?
When was the last time either Jim Moeller or Sharon Wylie gave a damn about anything other than furthering the leftist agenda?
All expectations point to 17th Legislative District Senator Don Benton retaining his lead over challenger Tim Probst to keep his seat in the state senate. It’s been a very close and contentious campaign with Democrats throwing everything they could at Don to unseat him, including spending hundreds of thousands of dollars in bogus mud-slinging attack ads, painting Senator Benton as evil and uncaring as any human could possibly be.
In spite of coming very close to succeeding, Benton appears to be holding on to the win. Even though by a slim margin, a win is a win. Clark County Elections Supervisor Tim Likness states that even though the final results will not be certified until next week, it is not expected to change the outcome.
Although Senator Benton is labeled as one of the most partisan people in Olympia, his retaining the Senate seat is expected to finally bring about a more centrist oriented legislature with two moderate Democrats, Tim Sheldon and Rodney Tom indicating their desire to be more bipartisan and work more with Republicans that hard line Democrats in a “power-sharing” arrangement.
“Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them.”Romans 1:24 New American Standard Bible
It was just this past July 2012 that openly homosexual, megalomaniac 49th Legislative District Representative Jim Moeller, undoubtedly the single most arrogant member of the Washington State legislature attached the phrase “a thriving queer mecca” to the City of Vancouver in an invitation to a so-called “Gateway to Equality” event held in Esther Short Park next to City Hall.
The event was in large part to honor our state legislature ignoring a crippling budget deficit in order to ram homosexual marriage legislation through and show support for the coming vote of the people to approve such legislation, which passed due to 10 of the heavier populated counties overwhelming the other 29 counties that voted against it by margins as high as 40%.
Ms. Wylie waffles around, says she generally supports such votes, but it would depend on how it is structured?
Why is it so hard for Sharon Wylie to say whether or not she supports a vote of the people on the most expensive project ever to hit Southwest Washington?
