Democrats Applaud 26 Year High In Unemployment

By lewwaters

Depression 01Throughout the Bush administration, Democrats and the state owned media blasted President Bush for unemployment numbers during his entire time in office. A July 3, 2003 AP dispatch began with, “The nation’s unemployment rate shot up to 6.4 percent in June.”

Sen. Jon Corzine, D-N.J, then chairman of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee said, “The verdict is in: The Republicans’ multi-trillion dollar failed economic policy is one the greatest disasters for working Americans in a decade.”

In spite of the cries of “failed this and failed that,” Tax receipts were reaching near record highs in 2005 as unemployment dropped as low as 4.8%. Regardless, Democrats began and continue down to this day the outright lie that the Bush Tax Cuts only benefited the wealthy.

In the final days of his administration, the Washington Post ran an article titled Economy Made Few Gains in Bush Years Eight-Year Period Is Weakest in Decades.

Needless to say, every chance available, President Bush was lambasted over the economy and unemployment. Democrats built a façade to present to America outlining how bad off we all were.

One would think, then, that even higher numbers would cause them alarm and we would be told how bad off we still are, right?

If you think so, you don’t know Democrats very well.

The latest numbers are out and unemployment hit 9.5%, in spite of being told it would level off at 8% if we approved Obama’s massive “stimulus bill” earlier in the year.

Instead of more alarm, Speaker Pelosi released a statement saying in part, “Today’s unemployment numbers are another reminder of the years of failure to invest in making Americans the most highly educated and innovative workforce in the world—and years of delay on affordable health care and the clean energy jobs and industries that will sustain our economy for years to come.”

She continues by telling us how much worse it would be without the so called stimulus package, that they first said would prevent this from happening. Then she boasts about passage of the Crap and Tax energy bill that promises massive tax increases and utility increases on the middle class, who was supposed to get a tax break, remember?

We are at a 26-year high in unemployment and what do they want to do to us? Raise our taxes!!!!

Robert Gibbs, Obama’s Propaganda Minister said of the increase in unemployment, “There’s a sense that beginnings of stabilization are taking hold, and hopefully the worst job loss is behind us.” He continued with, “the stimulus plan is working.”

Recall, Democrats cried about a 4.8% unemployment rate and even called any economic recovery during the Bush administration “a jobless recovery.

But now, 9.5% with a promise that it will keep increasing shows their “stimulus plan is working?”

Remember too, when President Bush sent out stimulus checks, they went to us, the middle class, to spend as we saw fit and circulate in the economy.

Where did Democrats stimulus money go? To large corporations, those same large corporations they claim Republicans favor and they abhor.

When the Democrats seized control of both Houses of Congress in January 2007, unemployment was at 4.6% and remained somewhat steady throughout the year. They pushed through their minimum wage increase by May when President Bush signed it into law.

The next month, unemployment numbers began creeping up, reaching 6.8% when Obama won the election and cresting at 7.2% when he assumed control of the government.

And now that it has hit 9.5% and expected to rise above 10% through 2010, we hear how their policies are working and we should pay even more taxes?

Here in Clark County we were treated to what is supposed to be good news with Clark County’s unemployment rate falls slightly, telling us our unemployment has dropped from 13.9% to 13.2%.

The year before our unemployment rate was 5.8%.

Of course, our elected Democrat representatives, Senators Patty Murray, Maria Cantwell and Brian Baird all voted to slap us with the steep indebtedness we now face without even reading the bills.

With Democrats holding complete dictatorial power over the country now, they can no longer point fingers or blame Republicans. It’s all on them and in such a short time; they are failing to produce anything but more dependency and failure.

I don’t know about you, but I’m getting a little tired of the Democrats and their double speak while they push me out of a job and reach deeper into my wallet.

Thing is, they’re going to say “It could have been worse” despite the promise you mention that the unemployment rate wouldn’t exceed 8%. But their graph depicting unemployment isn’t pretty. It shows the projected unemployment rates both with and without the stimulus.

In case you’re interested, Newsy ran a video today about this very topic, and they even make the case that the unemployment rate could be as high as 16.5% depending on how you calculate it. Their full video’s at http://www.newsy.com/videos/unemployment_at_26_year_high.

  2. lewwaters Says:

Correct, Daniel. Depending on calculation it could be much higher and in many localities, it is.

Without the stimulus is pure speculation of course. I say that because studies looking back see that the efforts of FDR actually prolonged the Great Depression, not ended it.

Is it possible that without the so-called stimulus bill, those companies might have entered bankrupty, gotten strong concessions from interested parties and began building towards profitability sooner?

Remember, none are profitable yet and to be quite frank, with such government supervision, I doubt they will be.

    Think AmTrak.

I’ll check out the video link you supplied.

Just as Bush blamed everything on Clinton. It is only fair that Obama blames everything on Bush.

  4. lewwaters Says:

Funny, I don’t recall President Bush blaming anything on Clinton.

We may have, but I don’t recall President Bush doing it.

Then again, this piece is about Dems massive borrowing to send money to bail out corporations failing.

Bush’s stimulus early on went to the people, but to large corporations.

Sounds like Obama believes in , gasp, “trickle down.”

Feel free to show where President Bush busied himself with blaming “everything on Clinton,” instead of making baseless accusations.

Actual quotes will suffice, not what some liberal blogger claims.

  5. bushtool Says:

I know your memory is better than this. For starters, remember the missing “W”s on the White House keyboards. That was of course just the tip of the iceberg.

I’m not going to rehash ancient history.

Just google “Bush blames Clinton” and you can spend a year or so remembering the past.

  6. lewwaters Says:

Uh, Bushfool, put down the joint. It was Clinton’s people that stripped the ‘W’s’ off of keyboards. Bush did nothing but have them replaced.

Clinton’s people were not charged and it was Bush himself who played down the reports of vandalism to both the White House and Air Force One.

If you don’t wish to “rehash ancient history,” perhaps you shouldn’t bring it up in the first place.

Your efforts at obfuscation and diversion won’t fly without you documenting your claims. Demanding I prove your claims is as bogus as they come, but par for the course for revisionist liberals.

Facts might be confusing to you, but they are preferred.

  7. bushtool Says:

I am not accusing you of anything so I do not understand why you slander and accuse me of being a pot smoker and an “obfuscator”.

This will be my last post for a while as I tire of the endless back and forth to nowhere.

Last week it was revealed that a formal review by the General Accounting Office, Congress’ investigative agency, “had found no damage to the offices of the White House’s East or West Wings or EOB” and that Bush’s own representatives had reported “there is no record of damage that may have been deliberately caused by the employees of the Clinton administration.”

While cautious GSA staffers won’t issue a blanket exoneration of the Clinton team, Bernard Ungar, the agency’s director of physical infrastructure, told Salon the media clearly exaggerated the extent of the damage. According to the terse GSA statement that formed the basis of Ungar’s conclusion, “the condition of the real property was consistent with what we would expect to encounter when tenants vacate office space after an extended occupancy.”

Go ahead, attack the source, attack me. I can take it but don’t expect another response regarding this nonsense.

  8. lewwaters Says:

Oh please, even you should be able to do better than that. I won’t even state the obvious that your source is heavily biased to the left.

Since for some reason your biased source won’t open, from truth or fiction we read, “Bush downplayed the reports saying he wanted to move on with the presidency,” and “There was a companion story that Air Force One had been the victim of the outgoing Clintons and that numerous items from aboard the plane had been pilfered. President Bush himself told reporters aboard Air Force one on February 12, 2001, that the report was not true. According to Salon Washington correspondent Jake Tipper, Bush brought up the subject because the chief steward aboard Air Force One told him the allegations were false.”

Need I remind you that you stated, “Just as Bush blamed everything on Clinton. It is only fair that Obama blames everything on Bush.”

For “evidence,” you brought up the story of the missing “W’s,” not I.

It is you that said President Bush himself blamed everything on Clinton and even your biased source admits that President Bush played down the reports and denied one outright.

Even your biased source, if even moderately honest, should include similar sentences showing where Bush continually played down the reports and didn’t want to make abig deal out of them as some others in the party did.

Even a liberal should be able to tell the difference between President Bush himself and others. But, you didn’t say others made the claim, you laid it at George W. Bush’s feet, falsely too, I might add.

Also missed and ignored by you is upon Bush’s leaving office, “The current Bush officials said privately there is an understanding among White House aides that President Bush will be furious if there are any pranks.

    Man up if you dare.

  9. Pat Campbell Says:

Someone vandalized our 401(K)’s. Hell with the keyboard stuff, I’m talking about trillions $$$$ here!!!!!

  10. lewwaters Says:

You’re right, Pat. And, it’s gotten so much worse in the last few month with promises of getting even worse in the months ahead.
